The second stop of the day
After Morton Farm Shop in Thornbury, me and Leo called in at Easter Compton Farm Shop, near Almondsbury, on the way home. It is a different sort of place. Busier and more commercial than a little honesty shop, and still amazing. We did not really speak to anyone this time. The place was doing too good a trade for that.
The milk machine
Outside there is a Two Bros milk vending machine that runs 24 hours a day. Pasteurised whole milk, filled into a glass bottle. I bought a litre. You can tell the difference. I do not think I can drink shop milk again, and it is just down the road.
At home that evening it went into an iced coffee, alongside the sausages we had bought at Morton. Perfect day.
Inside
There is a small cafe on site, Joanna's Free Range Kitchen, and it was doing good business. A dream to see. Leo bought homemade pies from the counter, and the wall of preserves alone tells you what sort of shop this is.
The way home
The day did not quite go to plan after that. A rear tyre blew on the drive back, and we sat waiting a couple of hours for the RAC. While we waited, a local gardener came out and made us tea. That is the sort of day it was.
